NCCA PRE-CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Candidate must have completed at least a HS/GED or higher education. This program is open to all mature Christian adults. Ministerial (Clergy) Credentials ARE NOT required for enrollment or completion of this program. Clergy credentials would only be required for programs that lead to NCCA licensing and earning your degree(s) through the NCCA degree assistance program.

Students who complete this pre-certification progam may elect to continue studies toward one of the NCCA fully sanctioned certification, license and degree(s) in Christian/Pastoral Counseling, as the Lord leads. Please review the other programs on this website for full requirements. The average completion time for this program is about 10 months, based on the student's commitment of at least one hour a day in at-home study, personal study habits, and forward progress academically and financially.

This program is an excellent starter program for those who are not sure which program to commit to, not sure what level of counseling they envision, or just "want to get their feet wet", before committing to one of our NCCA sanctioned Certification, License and/or License + degree programs.


NCCA Pre-Certification Program Curriculum & Costs


COU101 - $250   Basic Christian Counseling      
THE101 - $250   Temperament Theory     
THE201 - $200   Test and Measurement     
THE301 - $250   Temperament Therapy     

Students who complete this certificate program have the option to continue and complete the full NCCA certification only program. COU101, THE101, THE201, and THE301 of this pre-certification program fully transfers into the NCCA Certification Only Program. Students who wish to continue will be required to complete the following additional requirements:

  • PSY301 - $250   Christian Psychology & Counseling     
  • Sign and submit signed copy of the NCCA Code of Ethical Standards
  • Complete SPV101 - $250 (25 x 10) Practicum Lab I
  • Supervision I Fee: $150
  • Ten (10) practicum using the A.P.S. + submitted/accepted written reports under our supervision agreement.
  • Written Responses To 50 Ethical Questions From The NCCA Licensing Board Of Examiners (Provided In NCCA Documentation Package)
  • A Photograph and Personal Resume'
  • Three Letters Of Reference Forms (Provided in NCCA Documentation Package)
  • Phase One Application For Certification & Membership Form (Provided in a NCCA Documentation Package)
  • $ 50 - Initial NCCA Membership and Certification Fee.
  • $ 50 - RMCM Ministries Processing Fee
  • Letter Statement Addressing "Why I Want To Be A Member And Certified By The National Christian Counselor's Association"

    After successfully completing all of these additional requirements, the candidate will have completed the NCCA Certification Only program, and (assuming everything is in order) will receive NCCA Membership, and NCCA Credentials as a Certified Temperament Counselor.

    Additional Information Specific To This Program:

  • No 2d enrollment fee will be required for students continuing into the full NCCA certification program.
  • Program Time Limitations This is not a self-paced program. Each academic course has a specific time limitations for completion. The time allowed for completion of individual courses are very liberal and achievable, with a committment to at least one hour a day of study (on average). We understand that there may be occasion to grant extensions due to medical or other hardships. We are flexible in granting temporary extensions by request, and on a case-by-case basis.

  • Method of Instruction:Home Study, Textbooks, Workbooks, On-Line Exam, Closed-Book Proctored Exams, and Practicum. We additionally provide an interactive student access area (password protected), that includes, policies, procedures, forms, examples, a communication board, and other helpful assists to the student.
  • Mentoring: Oversight And Personal Assistance Is Consistently Provided By An Advanced Certified N.C.C.A. Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor Who Is Also Board Certified In Supervision. Mentoring Is Accomplished By Phone, Fax, Mail, and/or Email, as required by the National Board Of Christian Clinical Therapists (N.B.C.C.T.)

    Effective October 1, 2007, this program replaces the Lay Biblical Counseling Certificate Program.
