REQUIREMENTS FOR PERSONAL MINISTERIAL CREDENTIALS
RMCM Ministries does not require ministerial credentials for initial enrollment, however students who enroll into our N.C.C.A. Licensing & Degree programs will be required to obtain clergy credentials prior to the end of Phase II and licensing. Obtaining clergy credentials is the sole responsibility of the student, and is not a part of the RMCM Ministries curriculum, however we will personally assist you in discussion, and pointing you to a proper route for planning and getting your clergy credentials that meet the N.C.C.A. program requirements. If you already possess a valid clergy credentials, obtaining them will not be a requirement of your program.
|Personal Ministerial Credentials|
The purpose of ministerial credentials to prepared and qualified candidates is:
(1) to establish a recognition of those called to specific ministries of the Christian faith,
(2) to make available a qualification process by which leadership may recognize and endorse such person, and
(3) to provide an accountability process measured by defined ethical and religious standards.
To accomplish this, a called person, male or female, may make application to their local church or to a nationally recognized church for specific recognition.
After initial recognition is given, a relationship is established between the minister and the church, including membership, requiring regular and informative reporting of professional and spiritual activities of the minister, to the church leadership. This facilitates the on-going endorsement and commendation of the minister by the Presbytery of the church.
There are two primary routes for receiving your valid ministerial credentials:
a. Local Church, or
b. Independently from a Nationally recognized Church
Local Church Clergy Credentials: If the student is planning on developing or enhancing an outreach ministry of Christian counseling under the auspices of their local church, the local church leadership must ordain, license, or commission the individual as a minister of the Gospel, or Christian/Pastoral Counseling. Requirements for each category of clergy credential will vary from church to church. As a student goes through our NCCA Certification, Licensing & Degree program, they should simultaneously be working with their local church leadership on securing proper ministerial (clergy) credentials, as required for our programs. If you have not yet approached your Pastor and Church leadership of your calling, now is a good time. For these clergy credentials to be considered valid by state and court officials, the student must work with local church leadership to establish the outreach ministry under the auspices of the local church, with board oversight, procedures, and proper accountability
Independent Clergy Credentials: If your goal is to plan and begin an independent Christian counseling center (Para-Church) within the community, not sponsored by a local church, you will need to secure valid ministerial credentials through a legally recognized national church. This will require the student to follow that national church's policies and procedures in securing the ministerial credentials at, or up to the level of the services you will be providing. Just as above, establishing a para-church ministry of Christian counseling in the community, requires careful planning and implementation. In the case of establishing the ministry under the auspices of a nationally recognized church who has conferred their ministerial credentials upon you, you must establish the right relationship, either separately incorporating your tax exenot ministry in your state, with your own board of directors and affiliating with the national church, or establishing the ministry as a direct outreach ministry of the national church, under their tax exempt organization status. You may do either. Applying for and receiving independent ministerial credentials are not difficult, and there are some nominal costs for fees, and certain courses (as required).
RMCM Ministries is happy to discuss with you both options of obtaining, or being sure that ministerial credentials desired or currently possessed, are going to be valid credentials in the N.C.C.A. program. RMCM Ministries has a highly recommended source of receiving independent ministerial credentials through a nationally recognized church, that has as one of it's primary missions to oversee independent Christian counseling ministries. You will be guided through all of the necessary paperwork for the clergy credentials, and recommended courses of training to achieve the clergy credential, as well as assisting you in affiliating your separately incorporated ministry, or charter your ministry organization directly under their auspices.
