RMCM Center For Christian Counseling & Education

PRACTICUM LAB II

Students in Phase II will be required to administer fifteen (15) additional temperament surveys with fifteen individuals in their community, receive a 6-7 page complete analysis report, to aid in applying the session by session teaching from the text material. For inexperienced counselors, these fifteen (15) individuals may be volunteer friends, family members, coworkers, or bible study/small group members, who are willing to sit with you for 5 or 6 sessions to go through the process of teaching them their inborn temperament and temperament tendencies, and provide personal recommendations to them to help them meet individual unmet needs and reduce general stress and anxiety they may be experiencing. Pastors are encouraged to participate in this process by referring individuals who are experiencing life difficulties.

For our more experienced students already working within counseling ministries, these volunteers may also be from current or future counselees that are being seen. The process can easily be integrated into the students work with current counselees.

Preparation for practicum, session time, and report writing requirements during and completing each practicum individual take about ten (10) hours per practicum individual. Reports are required to be submitted to the Supervisor/Mentor by electronic means for review, critique, and acceptance throughout the practicum phase. The student area of the website details all necessary procedures, forms, format, and example to help the student be highly successful. Ready access to the supervisor is available at reasonable hours.

Through this practicum process, you will practice and apply what you are learning with many individuals. Your confidence and experience will grow, and it is vital in preparing you for client work after completion of the program and you are in a counseling ministry. The NCCA requires practicum work, under mentoring in order to award Certification and Licensing.

Each student will be gently guided and provided constructive review through all practicum work. If you have additional questions regarding the requirement for practicum in this program, please contact Dr. Mangus toll free 1-877-885-2735.
